The Museum Giersch der Goethe-Universität (MGGU) presents a special exhibition, "Deep Field: Measuring the Unimaginable." This exhibition showcases the work of both artists and scientists who explore the concept of measuring the Universe.

One of the featured artists, Nina Caviezel, created a video titled "From Dust to Data." This piece combines images from the Harvard Plate Stacks with those captured by modern space satellites. Caviezel's work examines the various methods astronomers use to clean their data and present their imagery. From scientists in bunny suits working in clean rooms to the noise produced by contemporary instruments, astronomers consistently strive to refine their results. This challenge also applies to imagery from the Harvard Plate Stacks collection, where distinguishing dust from data on a glass plate negative can be difficult, especially when the plates are scanned, cracked, or deteriorating.

In addition to Caviezel, the exhibition features artworks from Katie Paterson, Armin Linke, and Estelle Claschke. It also highlights the contributions of scientists from Goethe University, including Camilla Juul Hansen and Hannah Elfner.
